I capture the places / scenes that I have an emotional connection to. The subject is often the representation of how I feel about real life but not necessarily the way I feel when I photograph them. This project is a mirror of my vulnerabilities. The ocean, trees, and land are the primary subjects in this body of work, as they are also the components of nature. They are the reason I’m able to refresh my mind and my heart once in a while. The places that are being visualized in this project express the emotional being of my inner self. They are my sanctuary. My intention is to bring my feelings out to the world through these handmade photographs rather than to expect people to experience what I feel. The images were captured with a pinhole camera on 4x5 black and white film. I believe feelings are somewhat unclear, they’re undefinable and unspeakable. You have to feel it with your heart, not your mind. Pinhole images perfectly represent that to me.
